How I got my study motivation

HOW I FOUND MY MOTIVATION.

When I first got into year 11, I was a lost cause. I didn’t set plans out for myself, and I didn’t know how I was going to prepare myself for the year.

I basically just went with the flow and winged everything.

After the mid-term break in October, I went back to school still a hopeless case. Some of my friends and I found humor in the fact that we didn’t study during the break and how we wasted our entire mid-term break doing anything BUT studying.

I thought it was hilarious how unserious and wasteful we were, but then there was one of my friends her name is Sanaa. She’s known for always getting the best grades in class along with some other chick. When I asked her if she got any work done, she said yes and looked at me like I was an idiot for asking.

I’m confident to say that that was what triggered the little button in my head.

I remember going home and just thinking to myself, all my other friends and I didn’t touch a book, but she studied and got her work done because clearly, she knew her priorities.

I thought to myself “no wonder her grades are always great.” That night I told myself that if I worked a hard as her, I could get grades as great as hers. I changed how I worked as well as my lifestyle.

I started doing some research on how to improve myself academically, and that is how I found a youtuber named “Lucrezia Chloe”.

Lucrezia was what I was missing to help me actually use and maintain my motivation. She used to film YouTube videos (she still has them) of study tips and study with me videos and I just really loved them so much.

She honestly inspired me and I followed other study channels like “unjaded jade” and “missemmaxo” that have similar videos related to school on their channels.

Study youtubers are really helpful, and since I don’t feel quite comfortable to be a study youtuber and put my face out for the world to see, I thought I should put my writing skills to the test and become a study blogger.

I’m honestly quite thankful to YouTube for making my year 11 go a bit more smoothly, despite all the constant exams and tests as well as covid19 pandemic ruining my year.

That whole school term I managed to focus on school work for 27 hours or more each week, and this REALLY improved my grades. When you work harder, you become a lot smarter than you ever thought you could be.

Getting motivation is actually the easy part. The hard part is keeping it consistent, containing it and applying it every day.

I learned how to do that by investing a lot on studying resources. I got my desk filled with stationeries and past papers, so that whenever I felt like procrastinating, I couldn’t, because I had everything that I needed.

It’s also really important to study on a hard material, such as your desk or dining table. If you study on your bed you’re just going to end up falling asleep, and I had to learn that the hard way.

If you fall asleep, you lose precious time and end up being unprepared for a test or exam.

As time passed, I learnt more helpful and better ways. I changed a lot of my studying techniques because I never stopped researching new and better ones. As time passed, I also learnt which techniques work for me and which ones don’t.

Now I’m really confident with how I will work in year 12 and I’m already planning ahead. I think that’s the whole point of year 11.

You learn all these important study techniques in year 11 and when you reach year 12 your already mentally ready for it. I can start working hard from the beginning. I already know now all the techniques that work for me and of course I’m willing to keep an open mind and try out new ones.

When it comes to stationeries, I’m totally set, this is because I’ve already invested in them in year 11 and all I need to do is update my collection.

Anyway, I went a bit off topic but I think I’ve shared it all. I hope my post gave you a bit of inspiration to go and find your own motivation. If your still here thank you so much for reading and I hope you have a really amazing day!
